Additional information

In order to identify your real needs and concerns, ask yourself: "Why do I want what I want?". You will then quickly realize that you have good reasons for wanting what you want.
A practical example
What I want (position):
- We go to Hawaii in the same hotel we went last year - or I'm not coming!
Reasons why (your underlying interests):
- „The workload during the last 6 months was terrible. I'm exhausted and I need two weeks to relax and rest."
- „The most important thing for me is that the children don't get bored during three weeks.“
- „What's of key importance for me is an eventful holiday program.“
Do not take a position. Write down your underlying concerns, needs and interests, and explain them during the meeting.
